I was very lucky to win a giveaway where I won a one-night stay at Escapades en Perigord in Eymet. The site has four lodges, and I won a night at the Reverie en Périgord lodge. The site is run by Patrice and Martine, who live in their house on the same site as the lodges. Patrice is also a funeral director in Bergerac, and Martine is a florist in Bergerac. Whilst talking to Patrice, we also learned he has a pilot’s license and sometimes flies from the aerodrome near Riberac. We didn’t meet Martine, but Patrice greeted us and was very accommodating. We also met his Dad, who lives further up the road.

The Reverie Lodge
The 5-star Reverie Lodge is advertised as a romantic hideaway, and I can see why; however, as we don’t have family or anyone to look after the children, my husband suggested I take our son for a break from his toddler sister.
The lodge is stunning and has everything you could possibly want. The kitchen has top-of-the-range appliances, including a SMEG kettle, juicer, and toaster. There is also a coffee machine, a Magimix food processor, a washing machine, a dryer, an oven, and a microwave. A dining area in the kitchen has a breakfast bar and a couple of seats. Large bay windows open onto a terrace with a table, chairs, and BBQ.
In the hallway is a desk with a computer, perfect if you are having a working break. From here, it leads to the spacious bedroom with huge windows overlooking the Dordogne countryside; it is an incredible view to wake up to. There is a smart TV and sound system. There is an ensuite with storage, a sink, a bath and a shower. There is no toilet in here; the toilet is in a separate room, which is to the right of you as you immediately enter the property.
Through the bedroom door, there is a sitting room. A door to the left leads to a decking area with a table, chairs, sun loungers, and your own private heated swimming pool. At the end of the sitting room is a shower and steam room. Through the door next to the shower, you can go to your private sauna.
The lodge has shutters and blinds throughout that can be controlled with remote controls. The heating and air conditioning can also be set to the temperature you like with remote controls. There is free WiFi and a safe in the wardrobe in the hallway.
We had a wonderful time staying here. It was so relaxing. I enjoyed the steam room whilst Lucas played with his friends on his Nintendo Switch, and it was lovely spending time in the pool together before watching a film.
Places near the lodges
The lodge is in the heart of Perigord Pourpre, less than 30 minutes from the medieval town of Bergerac, which is also the nearest airport. It is a 5-minute drive to the centre of the bastide town of Eymet. Chateau de Bridoire is 15 minutes away, which is where we explored before arriving at the lodge; that’s a great morning or afternoon out with children. Chateau de Monbazillac is 20 minutes away if you fancy a wine tasting.
