Univerland Journiac Review

Having children with a 6-year age gap, one of the hardest things I have found being in the Dordogne is finding days out to appeal to both of them. My 10-year-old is now too old to enjoy the soft play centres, whereas my 3-year-old loves them and is too young to do the activities my 10-year-old would like. Even the trampoline parks we have found here don’t allow entry for under 6-year-olds, except for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning.

There are plenty of swimming places we can visit, but on days when it is too rainy, cold, or even when we need to escape the heat, we need a place to visit indoors.

When we visited Univerland in Journiac, my 10-year-old and his two friends did the VR experience, karting and the laser game, all whilst my 3-year-old played in the soft play area. She didn’t need to hang around and colour whilst they had fun, she could fully have a fun day out herself too. The boys knew to come into the soft play after each session, and we ordered lunch in there too.

You pay for the activities when you enter and book the times of the sessions. The more activities you book, the bigger the savings you make. The boys’ VR, laser and karting cost €33 each for the three activities.

It is open every day from 9 am to 8 pm during school holidays. Outside of holidays, it is open Wednesdays and weekends from 10 am to 6 pm. There is also another Univerland in Le Bugue, less than a 10-minute drive from the Journiac site. That one includes an aquarium, mini golf, an aerial adventure course and a prehistoric maze.

With its mix of adrenaline-pumping challenges, immersive games, and family-friendly spaces, Univerland Journiac stands out as one of the most exciting attractions in the Dordogne. Whether you’re racing eco-karts, escaping from prison, testing your aim with an axe, or watching your children play safely, you’ll leave with memories worth treasuring.
