This is an old review that I have repurposed from my lifestyle blog. We visited and took these photos in July 2019. Restaurant L’Ecole in Vendoire is located in a charming old house and garden, which was a school for girls in the Jules Ferry era. The setting is absolutely stunning, with shaded seating on the terrace and seating around the back with breathtaking views of the surrounding fields.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was simply delicious. My partner and I both opted for the dishes of the day: a salad followed by steak for me and pate followed by steak for my partner. The price, at €16.50 each, was very reasonable. Our son chose from the children’s menu and had sausage followed by ice cream, which cost just €10.

The restaurant offers specialities from the Périgord region and works with local producers to cook fresh, seasonal products, ensuring a unique taste while respecting the natural rhythm of food. They have a varied menu that’s adapted to the seasons, so you can fully enjoy the benefits of each food at the right time. They offer plancha cooking and barbecues in summer, accompanied by homemade sauces. The garden of over 3000 m2 is fully fenced, making it a great play area for children while you enjoy their cocktails. In winter, they set up a space by the fireplace with sofas and tables where you can taste and discover menus fully thought out and adapted to the season. However, it’s best to check their website or the Facebook page as they’ll be closed during the months of December and January, sometimes even until mid-February, depending on the weather.

Where is Vendoire?

Vendoire is a charming village nestled in Perigord Vert, surrounded by the stunning landscape of the Dordogne and southern Charente regions. This hidden gem is located just 13 minutes from Villebois-Lavalette and 25 minutes from Riberac. It is also home of Des Tourbieres de Vendoire.
